PRAISE BAND

Biblical Basis:

The heart of this class is to promote and encourage high school students to worship and “love the Lord their God with all their heart soul mind and strength” (Mark 12:30). One primary goal of the praise band is to develop leaders in high school who carry a passion for the Lord in their hearts and not only sing or play worship songs but live a life of worship (Romans 12:1-2). Psalm 95:1-3 is one of the founding Bible passages for this class, it states “Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods.” Through prayer, Bible study, and worship this class challenges the students to live a life of worship on a daily basis.

Expected Student Outcomes:

  • Students will gain a deeper understanding of what it means to “Live a life of worship.” (Romans 12:1-2)

  • Students will develop their own musical abilities through daily musical practice and exercise.

  • Students will develop presentation, performance and leadership skills through leading their peers in worship each week during high school chapel.

  • Students will gain a deeper knowledge of the word of God through weekly memory verses.

  • Students will discover Biblical incite on worship from their weekly worksheets on worship.
